Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory, systemic immune-mediated disease that affects approximately 2–3% of the global population. Its most characteristic symptom is skin eruptions in the form of reddish-brown plaques covered with a distinctive, silvery-white scale. These lesions occur as a result of excessive and accelerated epidermal hyperproliferation, triggered by an abnormal activation of the immune system. Although the disease most frequently manifests on the skin of the knees, elbows, and scalp, the underlying inflammatory process can also actively occur inside the body. In a subset of patients struggling with this condition, psoriatic arthritis (PsA) develops, leading to joint pain, stiffness, and damage to the musculoskeletal system.
Modern Treatment Methods
While contemporary medicine cannot yet fully cure psoriasis, it is possible to achieve long-term remission and complete skin clearance. A pivotal role in the therapy of moderate-to-severe forms of the condition is played by modern biologic treatment, which precisely targets specific inflammatory molecules responsible for the disease progression. In our medical center, we offer patients access to innovative therapies within ongoing clinical trials. Participation in these research programs provides patients with a unique opportunity to benefit from the latest advancements in global dermatology under the supervision of experienced specialists. We ensure comprehensive medical care, diagnostics, and individually tailored treatment methods aimed at improving our patients’ quality of life.
