It primarily attacks the lacrimal (tear) and salivary glands but can affect the kidneys, lungs, and joints. 90% of cases occur in women over 40.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-daeec04 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"daeec04\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Symptoms and Diagnosis<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>Dry mouth (Xerostomia):<\/strong> Difficulty speaking and swallowing dry food.<\/li><li><strong>Dry eyes (Xerophthalmia):<\/strong> A sensation of &#8222;sand under the eyelids,&#8221; fatigue, and light sensitivity. This can lead to corneal ulcers. Tested via the <strong>Schirmer test<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Diagnosis:<\/strong> Confirmed by detecting <strong>SSA and SSB antibodies<\/strong> or a minor salivary gland biopsy.<\/li><li><strong>Primary vs. Secondary:<\/strong> It can occur alone (Primary) or alongside other diseases like RA or SLE (Secondary).<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
